Happy new year!
New year calls for new professional branding. The first primary goal is a logo redesign. For reference, here is cabulb-gfx’s logo from 2013-2015 (including the very first alpha version created back in 2012).
cabulb-gfx Alpha (pre-2013)
cabulb-gfx Black (2013-2015)
I first started the redesign by just sketching down loads of lines and symbols onto paper, as logo design usually goes.
Several ideas were generated, one was the faux 3D code brackets (see circled), the notSwastika (rejected for obvious reasons), and the double stack diamond (inspired by traditional Japanese kamon).
Phase 1 – recreate the basic shapes in vector form
Phase 2 – create more candidates and variants
Phase 2.5 – explore monochrome colour scheme
Phase 3 – select final candidate and refine the shape
Phase 4 – create primary variation for the selected design
There you have it, cabulb-gfx has a new logo. This post was longer than usual, but I hope you enjoyed my design process! If you have any suggestions please leave it in the comments below 🙂
